Eugene, Ore. – At 6:25 p.m. on April 25, Eugene Police officers responded to the report of a woman who was reported to have broken into a vehicle parked at W. 8th Avenue between Charnelton Street and Lincoln Street.

The woman was reported to have broken into a Toyota Camry using a knife to break the window and then opened the door and climbed into the back seat. A bystander approached the woman to ask if the Camry was her car and she indicated that regardless of who it belonged to, she had now taken possession of it. An officer approached the suspect, who refused to identify herself. The officer could see she had the knife and she complied when asked to drop it on the floorboard.

While the officer was speaking with the suspect, the owner of the vehicle, a man from Springfield, arrived on scene. He did not know the woman in his Camry. Officers advised the suspect she was under arrest and asked her to exit the vehicle. She refused. After several attempts to gain the voluntary compliance of the suspect to exit the car were unsuccessful, officers opened the unlocked driver`s side back door and pulled her out of the vehicle.

She was transported to Lane County Jail, where she was lodged as Jane Doe for Unlawful Entry to Motor Vehicle, Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree. She was later identified as Kimberly Michelle Pratt, age 33, of Eugene. Case 23-05972
