There are no pending court dates or hearings scheduled at this time for Dinnell.

Eugene, Ore. – The victim of a random brutal assault on an LTD bus this morning has died as a result of his injuries. The suspect, according to the EPD case number for this incident, is DEREK JULES DINNELL.

Charged with one single count of murder in the second degree now. Dinnell was originally charged with assault in the first degree, and robbery in the first degree.

Murder in the second degree carries a minimum measure 11 sentence of 25 years if convicted. If convicted, every day of that sentence, minus time in county jail, must be served. No early release, or good time credit.

The victim in this case is Travis Allen Sanders, age 69, of Springfield. Violent Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate and is seeking to speak with several people who witnessed the incident. Detectives are asking them to please come forward with information in this case. Eugene, Ore. – At 9:06 a.m. today, Nov. 19, a man hit another male on an LTD bus. The male suspect left. EPD and UOPD responded to the scene.

Eugene Springfield Fire also responded to treat the unconscious male victim. The location of the assault was the EMX stop on 11th east of Kincaid. The suspect was stopped and detained. The victim was transported to a local hospital.
