Eugene, Ore. – According to court records on the Oregon Judicial Department’s online records website, ANTHONY CHARLES RODEEN‘s case status is now “open”. Rodeen’s case status had been “pending fitness” as Rodeen had been deemed unfit to proceed, or help in his own defense.
ORS 161.360 defines unfit to proceed:
“A defendant may be found incapacitated if, as a result of a qualifying mental disorder, the defendant is unable:
(a)To understand the nature of the proceedings against the defendant;
(b)To assist and cooperate with the counsel of the defendant; or
(c)To participate in the defense of the defendant.”
Rodeen’s next court date is a status check hearing on 6/2/23. At this time, there is not a date shown for his trial.
Rodeen is presently in the Lane County Jail.
Rodeen is presently facing the following charges:
1) Murder in the Second Degree 163.115 Felony Unclassified
2) Attempt to Commit Any Degree of Murder or Aggravated Murder 161.405 Felony Class A
3) Assault in the Second Degree 163.175 Felony Class B
4) Failure to Perform Duties of Driver to Seriously Injured Persons 811.705(3)(b) Felony Class B
5) Failure to Perform Duties of Driver to Injured Persons 811.705(3)(a) Felony Class C

SEPTEMBER 8, 2022:
Eugene, Ore. – At 3:36 p.m. Eugene Central Lane Communications Center (911) received a report of a reckless Toyota 4-Runner driver who had run over a tent with people inside, and then further down the road, went onto a sidewalk and hit a pedestrian near Dari Mart.
Multiple Eugene Police units responded. The driver was detained with some involvement by bystanders at a 1082 Hwy. 99 parking lot. Eugene Police took custody without issue and transported him to Eugene Police Headquarters, and then to a local hospital for treatment of undetermined conditions.
Two people had been in the tent and one, a female is deceased. The deceased victim’s name is Amber Joanne Mark, age 42. The 23-year-old pedestrian hit near Dari Mart had life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. When last updated they were recovering from their injuries.
EPD Patrol, Major Collision Investigation team, Violent Crimes Unit, Community Service Officers, Drone Team, Eugene Springfield Fire, Eugene Public Works, Lane County Sheriff’s Office, and Oregon State Police, to the scene.
The multiple crash scenes covered more than a mile of roadway.
