First Weekend of Party Patrols Yields 72 Citations and 1 Arrest

Eugene, Ore. – With the new school year at the University of Oregon, Eugene Police staffed overtime enforcement efforts and focused patrols to target illegal alcohol use, noise ordinance violations and unruly gatherings in the neighborhood areas around the university. These enforcement efforts are data driven, may vary in time and intensity and follow an education-first approach.

 

 

During the first full, official weekend of school at the University, officers conducted evening focused patrols in the surrounding residential area, issuing:

(29) Open Container citations in lieu of custody (misdemeanor);

(43) Minor In Possession- Alcohol citations (violation);

(1) Physical custody for Escape, lodged at Lane County Jail.

No Unruly Gathering citations were issued. Students and residents can expect continued enforcement and education efforts by EPD in partnership with UofO PD, University Student Conduct and University Neighbor Relations.
