Eugene, Ore. – March 31, 2022, Jadquinn Onyey Cole, age 19, of Eugene, pled guilty to Attempted Assault in the First Degree with a Firearm and was sentenced to 70 Months in prison.

The investigation ultimately revealed the victim (who was not quite 18 years old at the time) was associated with an apartment at the location. The victim was hanging out with two people also associated with an apartment at the location and they were very well known to him. One of those people was Cole who had a firearm with him and it was out while arguing with the victim.
The victim was shot by Cole during the argument. The victim ran to the apartment they were all associated with and police were called. Cole and the other associate left the scene while police were arriving and they disposed of the firearm.

The violent crimes unit has identified Jadquinn Onyey Cole, age 18, of Eugene, as a witness who was in the area during the incident, and are asking if anyone has information regarding his whereabouts to contact police at 541.682.5111. Cole currently has a warrant for arrest, unrelated to this case.
Police are continuing to look for additional witnesses and anyone who might have observed the incident to call Detective Jennifer Curry at 541.682.5166.
